Surveys The cost of the survey depends on the size of the vessel, its age and location. As different vessel types vary, so do the fees depending on the complexity of the vessel model. Our rates for a prepurchase survey and report are competitive within the region and cost is generally $17.00 to $24.00 per foot. Our minimum charge is $300.00. Insurance (C&V Condition and Value surveys ) and appraisals surveys run between $10.00 to $12.00 per foot for vessels up to 42' in length. This rate does not generally include the vessel haul out inspection unless already hauled, or sea trial. A C&V survey is not a pre purchase survey, it is condition and value and not recommended for pre purchase. Catamarans are billed at a slightly higher rate. Please remember "A survey is a wise investment" and is small percentage of your purchase. Travel Our area of travel includes the United States, Central and South America, Caribbean and Europe. Our local area is between Palm Beach and Vero Beach Florida. Outside these areas is billed at reasonable per hour or daily travel rate.
Wooden and metal vessels are quoted individually. Oil Testing Clarke Marine Surveyors can provide oil testing. Oil testing is an excellent way to check the internal condition of a boats engine's), transmission's) and generator's). The analysis can assist in determining the mechanical soundness of an engine or component. The tests at the Oil Laboratory include emission and infrared spectroscopy to monitor internal wear rates and the physical properties of the oil. The test is performed for 9 elements, 6 wear metals, and 3 contaminant metals. These tests are $45.00 each.
